The status of this blog

It's been a while. A very, very long while. There's a good reason as to why I haven't been updating. No, not because I'm lazy (that is a reason, but a very bad one), it's because no one's been reading this. Now, I didn't expect to become Perez Hilton from this blog, but to date, my blog has only had 12 views, most of which were me to begin with. I feel like the people who actually do care about me would check out the sweet pics I've posted on Facebook. So, go there if you want pics. When I return from home, I'll tell you stories in person. I think it's more personal that way.

Now that my stay in Grenoble will be over in less than two weeks (!!!), I am offically making this the last entry of my study abroad blog. I'm sorry if I let anyone down who was really devoted to reading this. My vlog on YouTube fell through, and now this fell through as well. I'm a little upset, but like I said, no one really read this at all, I post more info about my adventures on Facebook, and it's just not fun to pour your heart out over a journal entry (like this one) and not have anyone read, let alone comment on it.

It was fun.

It's been foreverrrr

It's been an awfully long time since I've updated this (omg 4 days-- like anyone reads this blog). I'm just going to give the canned version of what I've been doing during this time:

+ Hiked up to the Musee Dauphinois

+ Visited the Chateau de Vizille

+ Ate at Pizza Hut

+ Watched a soccer/football match.

+ Saw the movie Precious

+ Read my books

+ Sat around and have done nothing.

Yeah... I could talk about how I feel, but my feelings right now have nothing to do with my stay in Grenoble-- and that's what this blog is supposed to be about!

I uploaded over 40 pictures to Facebook today. I am so productive.

Reason Why I'm Glad to be Here #1

I don't have to be in the middle of all the stuff that's going on at home in the states right now. I'm hearing horrible things-- not just about my academics and stupid bomb threats, but just drama between friends.

Jesus in a race car, am I glad to be an ocean away, not having to be present for all of this crap.

Dirty French Expression #1

Class

The B1.5 class is a challenge. The professor actually corrects your speaking abilities and tells you what's wrong with what you're doing. And I love it. Needed me a good challenge. We're learning about the school system of France right now. Once again, I am the only American among all Saudi Arabian guys and Chinese girls.

Le Petit Nicolas is a really cute book so far. When I'm done, it may end up on my fave books list on Facebook.

And I look like She-Ra. Life is pretty good now.

Les Livres!

I bought two new books today. Two very contrasting ones...

Féder ou Le Mari d'argent by Stendhal and Le Petit Nicolas.

The former is a short novel by the guy who is named after the University I go to. I figured why not be pretentious and read one of his books? This one was 2 Euros and short-- perfect. The latter is a kids' book. It's for ages 9 and up and about 200 pages long. It's one of the French literary classics for children and a live action movie was just released on DVD over here. It looked fadorable when I saw clips of it in the book store Fnac, so I decided I would read the book first before watching the movie. :3

I need to make a mental note to myself to stop buying books until I've finished reading them. When I finish these two, I'm going to buy a book of poems by Jacques Prevert.

New class begins tomorrow!

Skiiiiiiing!

I went skiing for the first time since I was a little kid today and it was AMAZING! At first I was really scared because I didn't know how to stop and I freaked out-- but I got a lot better as the day went on. I was DUMB and forgot my camera, so no pictures of me falling on my butt. Seriously, you should have seen me. It was funny as hell.

My legs are really sore now because of it, but I'm doing all right. Now I need something to do. I feel like such an old lady because I never go out and do stuff! Ugh. Oh well.

My last day of class for the month!

Today was my last day of class. How did I celebrate? I went to Haagen Dazs, of course! I had a banana caramel crepe, and yes it was delicious.

I now feel like I weight 500 lbs. Vladimir is happy.

I'm going to go see The Princess and the Frog dubbed in French tonight. I was going to see it after class, but the girl I planned on going with had something come up and now we're just going later in the day. It's called La Princesse et la Grenouille in French. I'm pretty excited.

Allez Grenoble Allez!

I went to a hockey game last night and it was a lot of jolly good fun. To my chagrin, there really weren't any redneck equivalents there. Poo. But Grenoble totally kicked the other team's butt. 7-1. Yaaaah!

Laura and I with the mascots of both teams. Grenoble's is a firey wolf (The team's name is Les Bruleurs de Loups) The opposing team's was a bear with one ear-- no clue why. A drunk guy decided to Photobomb us. XD

I feel like such a three year old because...

The name of the British cartoon character Noddy is translated as "Oui-Oui" in French.

I feel so immature for thinking this is hilarious.

Awkward new routine I have now that I live in Grenoble #1

Washing my hair. No, washing my hair in itself is not abnormal-- I just go forever without doing so. It sounds gross, but remember-- YOU DON'T HAVE MY HAIR.

And I always use the cold water. Cold water + Cold apartment = Unhappy Deirdre.

So I'm going to wash it once I come back from class. Speaking of class, I should be heading out now! It's funny because while all of you college students are getting ready for bed, I'm getting ready for class! :D

Cute animals on postcards

The Grenoblois like to put cute puppies and kittehs on their postcards in addition to things like the Bastille, the Bubbles, the tram, and fountains. Do kittehs just make the postcards better?

C'est rigolo.

Kinder Surprise!

Okay, so maybe I shouldn't worry so much about credits transferring. I think everything will come out just fine. It always does. :)

Anyway, I discovered a wonderful new candy today: Kinder Surprise. It's a milk/white chocolate egg (milk chocolate on the outside of the shell, white chocolate on the inside of it) with another little plastic mini egg inside. Inside the plastic egg is a toy that you have to put together. Mine ended up being some sort of rocket/stingray kind of thing. I'm still unsure of the purpose, but I'm proud that I put it together. This is what it ended up looking like.:

Yeah. I don't know what it is either.

Suffice to say, I will be eating Kinder Surprises very often. Maybe once my stay here is through, I'll take a picture of my entire collection of Kinder toys. :3

Today, I also went to the Grand'Place mall to buy another cardigan. And just that cardigan. This one is navy blue and cost 15 euros. I am such an old man.

Well, that was today. A little boring, but not much really happens on the days when I have afternoon classes.

You know what would REALLY suck?

If my credits didn't transfer to UE-- which I have been informed that they may not.

Fun Thing to do in Grenoble on a Sunday #1

Ride the B Tram from Cité Internationale all the way to Gières Gares and back and have the conductor approach you and say "WTF?"

First Entry!

Hey everyone!

So, the whole vlog thing kind of failed on me and now I'm stuck blogging. Hopefully when I come back home, the few videos I had made will make it to YouTube. It's not like I can't upload my videos, it's just that it takes 3 hours to do so.

Here's where I'll post what happened with me every day so you can get a glimpse into my life while I'm away. I'll try to upload at least one picture as well too.

Anyway, it's Sunday in Grenoble, which means everything closes at 1 PM. Yep. Absolutely nothing to do on Sundays here. So what do I do? Typically I clean (!), do homework, and fool around on the internet. Today I cleaned (!!), wrote postcards, and fooled around on the internet. All in all, a very humdrum day.

The weather outside is very nice today, but I'm not the outdoorsy type, so no hiking in the mountains for me. Haha. Thursday was absolutely gorgeous, so I took a lot of pictures of the "touristy" stuff in Grenoble. Those pictures will be posted to Facebook very soon.

I wish my life were more interesting, but it's Sunday and nothing has happened to me yet. This blog will become more interesting as the days go by. Promise.
